If you believe ‘you are what you feel’ then life truly stems from your thoughts and emotions. Affirmations or the process of repeating positive words can boost your spirit to a new level. We translate our thoughts into words and then, into intention in order to gain what we want in our reality. Affirmations are a proven method of self-improvement due to their ability to rewire our brains and gain the power to change people’s lives. Science claims that talking positively to yourself will bring about changes in the way your brain works.

Here are ten powerful affirmations that can help change your life:

1. I can achieve greatness.

One of the most influential things you can tell yourself on a daily basis is that you can achieve greatness in life. Place focus on your vision and dreams and attach the emotion to that vision. By continually telling yourself and believing you can achieve greatness, it will eventually turn into a reality.

2. Today, I am brimming with energy and overflowing with joy.

Joy begins from within and not from outside influences. It starts as soon as you rise from bed, so make sure you repeat this to yourself first thing in the morning.

3. I love and accept myself for who I am.

To love you is the purest and highest form of love. When you love yourself, you will find that you automatically begin to appreciate and respect yourself too. Upon gaining confidence and pride in everything you do, you will see yourself in a new light and become encouraged and inspired to do bigger and better things.

4. My body is healthy, my mind is brilliant and my soul is tranquil.

A healthy body starts with a healthy mind and soul. If either suffers from negative emotions, the other becomes affected. The number one cause of poor health or disease is you. You are capable of removing all permissions you give yourself, through your subconscious, and can therefore conquer any pain or illness you may suffer.

5. I believe I can do everything.

You should repeat these words to yourself every day. These words are so important for counselling yourself to maintain encouragement. By doing this you will be able to do anything that you put your mind to.

6. Everything that is happening now is happening for my ultimate good.

There is no such thing as victims, accidents or coincidences. They simply do not exist because people will only attract what they are involved in. It is essential to know that everything happens for a reason and in perfect harmony. You are at peace with everything that has happened, is happening and will happen and your fears about tomorrow are simply fading away.

7. I am the architect of my life; I build its foundation and choose its contents.

These words should be repeated to yourself every morning when you wake up. Every day offers a fresh start and you have the ability to make an impact on others around you. You can make anything you want of each day because you are the architect of your own life. If you begin your day with positive thoughts and feelings you will transform that day into something incredible.

8. I forgive those who have harmed me in the past and peacefully detach myself from them.

This doesn’t mean you should forget what they have done but it means you are at peace with the wrong they have done and the lessons they have learned. The strength to forgive is what allows you to move forward and grow as a person. You can forgive one thousand people and even if none of them may forgive you, you will gain a sense of peace and freedom from within that they will never be able to receive unless they share your forgiveness.

9. My ability to conquer my challenges is limitless and my potential to succeed is infinite.

The only limits you have are those you place on yourself. What kind of life do you desire? What is stopping you? What barriers have you imposed on yourself? Learning this affirmation will help you break down your boundaries.

10. Today, I will abandon my old habits and take up more positive ones.

It is important to realise that any difficult times are only short phases in your life. These times shall pass and along with your old habits will fade into a distant memory. You are an adapting being with creative energy that surges through your body and leads you to new and brilliant ideas. You must let this energy flow.
